The reactions of the audience who watched Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” first trailer with the appearance of “black Ariel” at the fan festival event

The trailer for “The Little Mermaid” live-action film has been unveiled. R&B singer-actress Halle Bailey made headlines with her appearance as the main character Ariel.

The trailer ended with the scene where Bailey sings “The Little Mermaid” OST – “Part of Your World”, one of Disney fans’ favorite songs. Then how did fans react after watching this scene?

In particular, fans poured out compliments as soon as they hear the new version of “Part of Your World”.

Disney released its first trailer for “The Little Mermaid” on September 9th (local time) through the fan festival “D23 Expo”, which was held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Most of the audience at the event expressed high expectations for “Part of Your World” by Halle Bailey.

After the video was released, fans responded enthusiastically, saying “You have a sweet voice, just like a mermaid”, “Her voice suits the song so well”, “I got goosebumps. Her singing ability is so amazing”, etc.

Regardless of her skin color, Halle Bailey appeared beautifully in mermaid makeup. Her confident eyes and outstanding singing skills captivated fans at the event.

The live-action movie “The Little Mermaid” is a remake of the 1989 Disney animation of the same name. Director Rob Marshall of “The Little Mermaid” explained, “This is a work that shows respect to the original movie but also contains a new deep aspect”.

The live-action version of “The Little Mermaid” will be released in theaters on May 26th next year.

Earlier, the news of Halle Bailey being cast as Ariel sparked a huge controversy worldwide. It is because a black actress was cast as a character that is a white person in the original animation. Prince Eric in the live-action movie is still a white character like the setting in the original work.

Regarding the reason for casting Halle Bailey, director Rob Marshall said, “Halle Bailey is a rare talent. She owns a bright and beautiful voice, a great spirit, passion, and a pure and youthful appearance”.
