Actress Lee Yoo-young talked about the hardships she suffered because of her brown eyes.
In the 335th episode of JTBC’s entertainment show “Knowing Bros”, which aired on June 11th, Kang Ha-neul, Lee Yoo-young and Heo Sung-tae, the cast of drama “Insider”, were seen transferring to Brother School.
In the “Guess About Me” section, Lee Yoo-young said, “When I was a student, I kept getting caught by the teachers”.
Seo Jang-hoon got the right answer. Since Lee Yoo-young has an eye color that is different from others, she was misunderstood to have been wearing colored lenses.
Kang Ha-neul also testified, “What shocked me when we filmed the drama was that I thought she wore lenses during our first script reading. Her eyes looked the same on the filming set. I just thought she had to wear lenses all the time. I then went over and asked her. When she said it was her real eye color, I didn’t believe it at first.”
When asked if it was hereditary, Lee Yoo-young said, “Both of my parents have brown eyes. During my school days, the teachers were always standing in front of the school gate. They told me to remove lenses and didn’t let me in. Even though I told them that they aren’t lenses, they didn’t believe me.”
When asked if she had any trouble with her eyes, Lee Yoo-young replied, “My eyes are brown, so I shouldn’t look like I’m wearing lenses when filming historical dramas. Since the director suggested that I wear black lenses, the makeup team prepared a lot of different lenses. However, whatever I wore, my eyes felt burdened and they didn’t look good on me. In the end, I asked to just go with my eye color, but it was difficult when I participated in historical dramas.”
She added, “I used to hate my eyes so much. During my childhood, my eyes looked hazy. When it was popular to wear black lenses, I wore them a lot. As I started acting, I gradually liked my eyes because people liked my eyes.”
